How to Make a Complaint

Last updated: October 2026

We want every homeowner who reaches Backgroundshame Mold Help to be treated fairly and honestly. If something went wrong, tell us. This page shows how to raise a complaint and what comes next. It is a general template and is not legal advice.

Topics You Can Raise

You can write to us about:

  • Your experience when you phoned or contacted Backgroundshame Mold Help
  • The way your personal information was handled
  • Anything on this website that seems unclear or wrong
  • The conduct of a provider we connected you with

If the Problem Is With a Provider

Providers in our network are independent businesses. They answer for their own estimates, pricing, test results, work and customer service. If you are unhappy with work in your home, the usual first step is to raise it with the provider directly and keep a written record.

We still want to hear about it. Feedback about providers helps keep our network honest, and providers who repeatedly fall short of our expectations may be removed. Please know that Backgroundshame Mold Help cannot settle contract disputes, issue refunds for a provider's work or make decisions for a provider.

Sending Your Complaint

Email contact@backgroundshame.garden and include:

  • Your name and how to reach you
  • The date you contacted us or the provider
  • The phone number you called or the form you used, if you remember
  • The provider's name, if you know it
  • A clear account of what happened and what you would like us to do

After You Write

We will confirm we received your complaint by email, usually within a few business days. We will look into what happened, which may involve contacting the provider. Then we will reply with what we found and any steps we are taking.

Still Not Happy?

If our reply does not satisfy you, answer it and ask us to take another look. You may also contact your state's consumer protection office or attorney general, or your local Better Business Bureau. If your state licenses mold assessors or remediators, the licensing agency may be able to help too.
